Richard and Kevin O’Connor replaced an old, leaky steel bathtub and shower enclosure with a new fiberglass unit. With the old tub and shower walls removed, they replaced the existing shower valve and installed a new drain assembly on the new bathtub. Next, they inserted the tub into the rough opening and secured it by driving screws at each stud location through the tub’s flange. Then, they lifted the one-piece shower surround into place, caulked the seam between the surround and tub, and secured it to the wall studs with more screws. Finally, they installed the valve trim and tub spout.
